Kiwi Medal Mounting is a specialist business owned and operated in Whanganui, New Zealand, by Russell Barker. In 2014, after an evaluation process, Russell was registered with the New Zealand Defence Force as an Approved Medal Mounter.
Medals can be mounted in groups or as single medals. Medals which are mounted include those awarded to current and retired New Zealand Defence Force personnel, orders and medals awarded to recipients in the Queen’s Honours lists, such as the New Zealand Order of Merit or the Queen’s Service Medal, and long service and similar medals awarded to personnel in New Zealand Government agencies such as the New Zealand Fire Service.
Since being called up for National Service and subsequent service in the Territorial Force after being commissioned in the Royal New Zealand Artillery, Russell has had a continued interest in military history. After taking early retirement in 2001 he has mounted well over 20,000 medals.

With a growing interest in ANZAC Day and other commemorations, there is an increasing demand for the mounting of family medal groups.
In addition to medal mounting, Kiwi Medal Mounting offers replacement medals, replica medals and medal ribbons. The replacement/replica medals and ribbons can be provided in miniature as well as full-size groups and, if required, framing can be arranged. Replica medals can be mounted in the same manner as original awards.
All medals to be mounted are cleaned, polished and new ribbon (unless otherwise requested) is used. For some of the older medals a lacquer is applied to prevent future tarnishing.
Currently the turnaround time for mounting is 14 working days.
On the following pages this site details the services offered and the cost of mounting.

Hi Russell,
Would you be able to clean and re-ribbon NZ Fire Service medals (with service bars) if we provide the new ribbon? (we have the replacement ribbon material/stock)
What sort of timeframe and cost please. I have a photo of the two medals in question ( 1x Gold Star medal and bars and 1x International Year of the Volunteer medal)
Regards
